While we are building customer's pre-amplifiers, we send them weekly updates on our progress. These can take a variety of forms, and because each unit is completely bespoke it's a different process every time, but an example would be:
Week One - We send the customer's completed order form for approval. The form contains details of the entire unit and all the component parts so we have a clear record of exactly what we're going to build. We also send drawings/artwork for any custom engraving the customer has requested. At this point, we ask the customer to check everything over and once they're happy they can confirm. Of course, if they have any questions, or they would like to make any changes, we can work with them to get everything perfect.
Week Two - We send a video of the customer's transformers being wound. During the winding process, we take a couple of short videos and then annotate the video with some slides to explain what's happening. We'll also include a written update of any other progress, be it ordering progress for any special parts etc., technical changes or testing results.
Week Three - We take a few photographs of the customer's casework as it's assembled. At this point, we can usually also send photos of the finished, engraved and plated detailing the customer has requested.
Week Four - We send final testing data, a photo of the completed unit burning in and, from May onwards we will dispatch a special tool used to open the unit, which will be engraved with the customer's name.
Week Five - We send dispatch information and a PDF copy of the personalised user guide.
We made up a short video for Matej Isak of Mono & Stereo, to show an example of what the customer might expect and you can see it here (please note, the transformers in this video were being made for a demonstration unit, not the unit we took to Matej for review).
